VIRTUAL PARTICLES In the time it takes you to read this sentence between 2 and 6 Trillion neutrinos have passed through your body. Not hundreds of millions and not billions, but trillions have passed through again because there are so many of them being given off by our sun every second. They pass through planets and they very rarely interact with normal matter but we can not say that they never interact with normal matter. But they are not all coming from the sun and in fact come into our solar system from all different directions and from other objects already inside our heliosphere. Actually every planet or moon or asteroid in our solar system is generating neutrinos and as a certain online site regular touts, even bananas sent out neutrinos. So if there in fact was a never ending succession of nested frame of reference then what we perceive as elementary particles could only be elementary based on the limitations of the scientific precision of the instruments we use to recored the best measurements we can get. There would be smaller and smaller frames of references and bodies moving through spacetime together in never ending succession and the layer of particles one or even two layers below our current quantum scale could have quadrillions of those particles passing through you right now. Like Neutrinos, most slide by and miss each other but sometimes they collide. When there are conditions that increase the density of the subneutrinos and neutrinos then more collisions can occur. Where we see a concentration of energy as in the interactions occuring between electrons and photons where neutrinos are byproducts its actually the movement of energy at subquantum scales producing the results we can see and if we could peer in deeper we would see reasons for the probabilistic nature of the wave function. It is the interactions of all the subquantum particles moving in waves of energy that allow for particles that can appear and disappear. When there random fluctuations in Maybe not two items colliding and maybe not five of them colliding but maybe there are times where 20 or 30 of them ( or 200 or 300 because we are talking about billions going through your finger tips every second) may all try to occupy the same point in space time and that is when we get particles pop into existence out of nowhere and where we get tiny little disturbances in heat or energy. And it is these types of collisions that produce zero point energy so if we can calculate the approximate zero point energy per a certain size density of vacuum we may be able to approximate the number of collisions per second and maybe the number of objects involved in each collision once we have the instruments and scientific precisions to better measure the spikes and valleys that we find since our knowledge of how quantum mechanics works tells us there will be discreet measureable differences in specific possible amounts. If however someday we find there is a quantum foam trillions of times smaller than neutrinos I think we may find there is more to virtual particles than just a disturbance in a field because a disturbance in a field is what causes the localized mass and energy to behave certain ways.
